Faux wood blinds: The budget-friendly hack for a cooler, more insulated home – Makati project
Even in these contemporary times, more customers are designing their interiors to look as if they are connected to nature. This is achieved through furniture and hints brown and green in their designs and accessories. Part of this, specifically as a window treatment, are faux wood blinds. These look like real wood but are made up of cheaper synthetic, usually PVC, material. With the resemblance to real lumber, these blinds contribute to a more nature-like interior that serves various functions aside from aesthetics.
Faux wood blinds usually have a wood grain texture, available in different shades and finishes to replicate different types of wood. Because these are not made up of real wood, the synthetic material used in these blinds are more resistant to moisture, warping, fading, and damage. This quality makes these blinds more durable, long-lasting, and definitely cost-effective. Faux wood blinds are maintained by only using damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. This could be performed regularly to ensure that the quality of the blinds stays the same.

Like most blinds, faux wood blinds consist of horizontal slats that can be adjusted depending on the client’s preferences. These could be closed to fully cover the inside of a room or the slats could be opened or slightly opened to allow soft natural light to come in. When closed, these blinds allow insulation within the room. Meaning, these blinds trap the air between windows and blind and creates a barrier against heat. This way, heat is reduced during summer and the room is kept warmer during colder seasons. This way also, blinds contribute to managing or reducing utility bills.

Our Makati client opted for faux wood blinds for their home. The blinds were installed for their living room up to the play area’s large windows. The faux wood blinds blended well with the furniture, indoor plants, and room lighting. The rich, brown tones of the faux wood beautifully complemented the existing décor, reflecting the earthy hues of the comfortable furniture and the vibrant greens of the strategically placed indoor plants. The soft, golden light filtering through the blinds created a warm, sun-kissed glow, enhancing the overall ambiance and making the space feel both cozy and spacious.
The client’s choice of faux wood offered a practical yet stylish solution, providing privacy while still allowing ample natural light to enter the room. The blinds seamlessly integrate with the home’s design, adding a touch of natural elegance and contributing to a cohesive and beautifully curated nature-looking living space.
